Welcome To
Welcome to First Baptist Church Merkel
First Baptist Church Merkel is a place where people can meet Jesus, engage in life-giving community, and everyone is welcome. We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts and use them for God's glory. Join us for our Sunday services!
What We Believe
At FBC Merkel we affirm the Holy Spirit as the inspired Word of God and the basis for our beliefs. FBC Merkel subscribes to the doctrinal statement of The Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000. We voluntarily band together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to lost mankind. The ordinances of the church are believers baptism and the Lord's Supper.
Our Mission Statement
Our Mission at FBC Merkel is to transform the hearts of people into a close and personal relationship with Jesus where they know Him as Lord, King and Savior. We are all about leading everyday people towards becoming fully devoted followers of Christ!
Our Purpose
Being empowered by the Holy Spirit, the purpose of FBC Merkel is based upon the Great Commitment to the Great Commission of Christ in Matthew 28:18-20. Great Commandments in Matthew 22:35-40. The church shall have a missionary and evangelistic outreach for all unreached people in our immediate area and around the world, and shall endeavor to provide a total Christian ministry to each church member and other within our sphere of influence. All FBC facilities will only be utilized for purposes that reflect the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. These purposes shall be accomplished through the following functions of the church: worship, witness, education, fellowship, and ministry.
What to Expect
A typical service will last about 90 minutes. We sing a good mix of contemporary and traditional music that is led by our worship choir. There is childcare available and activities for all age groups. Plan to hang around after the service for fellowship and meeting new people.
